WOMEN PARTICIPATION IN SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Author: Ritu Dua

Women participation and empowerment are fundamental women's rights to enabling women to have control over their lives and put forth influence in society. Women often face discrimination and gender inequalities, with some women experiencing multiple discrimination and exclusion because of factors such as background or caste. Skills development through vocational training along with various measures such as Pradahan Mantri Kausal Vikas Yojna, National Skills Development Corporation, National Skills Development Mission. Ministry of Labor and Employment has taken a number of initiatives in the field of skill development and employment. For instance, training of trainers, Vocational Training for girls is being conducted by Advanced Training Institutes and Regional Vocational Training Institutes run by the Ministry. Vocational Education and training are essential mechanism of any strategy to improve farm and non farm productivity that improves rural incomes. Skill is the bridge between job and workforce. Women of ten have different training needs than men, since the yare more likely to work as contributing family workers, subsistence farmers, home-based micro entrepreneurs, or low-paid seasonal laborers, in addition to handling their domestic work and care responsibilities. Skills development is a key to improving house hold productivity, employability and income-earning opportunities for women and also for enhancing sustainable rural development and livelihoods. Skilling India is one of the most important national agendas. In addition to its core focus areas, the Skill India initiative must also focus on skilling women for different job roles, if we want to achieve gender equality in economic participation.

HEALTH INDICATORS AND INITIATIVES IN INDIA
Author: Shailly Chauhan

Health is a very essential component of human development as well as economic growth of a country. There exists positive relationship between income, economic growth and health status. Healthcare system of a country totally depends upon its infrastructure and resources. Measurement of health can be done using life expectancy rate and infant mortality rate. Economic growth of a country is measured in terms of Gross National Income (GNI). Healthy person is more active and enthusiastic and adds more to productivity. Better and adequate health facilities help in increasing life expectancy rate and reducing infant mortality rate. With good health a worker can produce more within a stipulated time. Higher productivity can be achieved with the help of good physical health infrastructure. People with good health can work for more hours. With the passage of time health infrastructure of India has shown a significant improvement which in turn have raised the standard of living of people. In this paper we discuss different health indicators and initiatives taken by the government.

FEMALE ENTREPRENEURS POWERING SELF-RELIANT INDIA THROUGH INNOVATION
Author: Vibhuti Rana, Parul Singh

A nation cannot become self-reliant unless its female population is empowered. Women play an essential role in the development of a society and economy. Countries develop and become better when more of their females are educated, and when this education is used for the greater good of the nation. India is leaping ahead of most other nations in terms of infrastructure and opportunities, but the mindsets also need to change at the same pace. If India wants to attain the self-reliant tag in a true sense, the most viable option is to empower women economically and to integrate them with the developmental goals of the nation and campaigns such as Atma Nirbhar Bharat. But, India’s growth has not percolated into the development of women entrepreneurship. Women in India only account for mere six per cent of mass entrepreneurs. Out of these, only 27 per cent of business women register annual revenue of more than Rs 10 lakh. Furthermore, they contribute only three point zero nine per cent of the total industrial output in India. At the macro level, growth of women owned enterprises in India remains restricted. Viewing this, India’s growth story can be considered as incomplete. Hence, for the inclusion of women, it is mandatory to understand the current situations and challenges of women entrepreneurs. Only then we will have to take appropriate actions, consequences of which should reach every aspiring woman entrepreneur at grass-root level.

STRESS AMONG WORKING WOMEN- AN ANALYSIS
Author: Meenu Gulati

Women in India have proved their mettle in the work domain. Behind such success lies a bigstory of struggle and freedom in the traditional social arena. Besides, changing roles of working women, they have also maintained the traditional work ethos of household. Indian culture bestows on women the role of care taker of the family. A greater number of women are also entering the workforce of restricted industries. Balancing work and family roles havebecome a key personal and family issue for many societies. In the women’s opinion, anunpleasant workplace is such a workplace where the feeling of mental workload is connected with the lack of rewards (motivation), uncertainty resulting from organization of daily choresand lack of support from others. Globally, the reported prevalence of stress shows 28% of men and 53% of women go through work-family stress. The prevalence is even more in Asian countries. In India, 87% of women are stressed for time to manage work and family. Most of the research on workplace stress has focused on men and only recently has attention been directed to the sources and implications of work-related stress for women. This study is done to identify and understand the possible unique sources of stress for women in the workplace and their responses to such stress.

IMPACT OF ICT ON ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY
Author: Sunil Taneja, Sushma Sharma

In recent years, the role of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the protection of the environment and combating climate change has received significant attention in different types of international forums. At present, the Environment management is the most important but most neglected discipline. It is very closely linked with the national development and economic growth. The developed countries have achieved high level of development and decent standard of living but at the cost of environment damage and depletion of natural resources. On the other hand, the developing countries are still struggling to attain a minimum standard of living though they are also contributing to the environmental damage. Thus both the developed and developing countries are damaging, depleting and polluting the environment; former out of greed and luxury, and the later out of need. It’s the responsibility of each and every individual to protect the environment from damage and to avoid the depletion of natural resources so that we have a rich nation from social and economic point of view. The nature has been providing resources and protection to the living creatures including human from long time but now nature needs protection from the human being. Our objective is to minimize the resource depletion and protection of the environment from damage, which as a result leads to national development and economic growth. The impact of human activities on the environment – and on climate change in particular – are issues of growing concern confronting life on Earth. At the same time, Information and Communication Technologies are being rapidly deployed around the world. Although ICTs require energy resources, they also offer a number of opportunities to advance global environmental research, planning and action. This paper reviews key ICTs trends and provides an overview of the impact that ICTs have on the environment and climate change as well as their role in helping mankind to mitigate and adapt to these changes. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the role of Information and Communication Technologies for promoting environmental sustainability in a changing society.

Author:
