This paper attempts to study the Occupational structure of a region refers to the distribution of its workforce across different sectors of the economy, including agriculture, industry, and services. Since 2020, Uttarakhand has experienced considerable changes in its employment patterns as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, migration, industrial development, urbanization, the recovery of tourism, and the expansion of the service sector. Although agriculture remains the primary source of livelihood for a large section of the population, there has been a gradual shift of workers toward manufacturing, construction, tourism, trade, education, healthcare, and other service-related activities. This study explores the changing occupational structure of Uttarakhand in the post-2020 period by examining the major trends, key driving factors, and emerging challenges. This study is based on secondary data collected from: Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), Niti Aayog reports, Uttarakhand Economic Survey, Government publications, research articles and academic studies. This study also assesses the impact of these changes on regional development, employment opportunities, and the state’s overall economic growth.
