This paper aims to critically evaluate the interpretation of religious texts concerning women's rights. With the help of case studies in Kashmir, the researcher examines how religious texts are interpreted and applied in the everyday lives of women. The case studies of Saima, Iffat, and Salima, three highly qualified women, highlight how misinterpretations of Islamic teachings, combined with cultural practices, lead to systemic injustices to women. The study reveals significant differences between the ethics presented in religious texts and the actual experiences of women, particularly in the context of marriage, divorce, and financial rights. The findings highlight the need for a re-examination of religious interpretations and legal reforms to ensure gender justice in Muslim-majority societies, particularly in Kashmir.
