Author: Aijaz Ahmad Malla, Ravinder Kumar

This study explores the intersection of Anita Desai's examination of human existence and the pursuit of meaning with B. R. Ambedkar's philosophy of tradition, religion, and spirituality. Through an in-depth analysis of Desai's literary works and Ambedkar's socio-philosophical teachings, the research delves into the complexities of Indian society, the human condition, and the quest for liberation within the context of tradition, religion, and spirituality. Drawing upon Desai's nuanced portrayal of characters grappling with questions of identity, belonging, and purpose, alongside Ambedkar's radical critique of oppressive social structures and reevaluation of religious traditions, the study seeks to uncover the resonances and connections between these two visionary thinkers. By examining how Desai's narratives intersect with Ambedkar's philosophy, the research aims to shed new light on the enduring quest for meaning, dignity, and social justice in India's ever-evolving cultural landscape. Through this interdisciplinary inquiry, the study offers insights into the complexities of tradition, religion, and spirituality, and their profound impact on the human experience and the pursuit of liberation in a rapidly changing world.

SPIRITUAL CROSSROADS: AMBEDKAR’S RADICAL VIEWS ON RELIGION AND SPIRITUALITY
Author: Ayush Ranta

In addition to being a brilliant scholar and statesman, B.R. Ambedkar was also a visionary religious leader. He was also a great parliamentarian, a leading social reformer, the primary architect of the Indian Constitution, a man of practical sense, and a man of intellect. India's constitution was framed by Ambedkar, and the fight to eradicate caste is one of his two most notable projects and accomplishments that are most widely recognised today. What makes Ambedkar's political struggle truly remarkable with these two endeavours, is his insistence on a spiritualization of human life. Apart from emphasising the significance of religion, he opposed it. Although he was a devout man, he disapproved of religious hypocrisy. According to him, religion ought to influence people's lives morally, influencing their dispositions, behaviours, attitudes, and preferences, rather than the reverse. Having been through the harsh realities of the Hindu caste system, he spent his entire life criticising it. In search of a religious remedy for the untouchables, he abandoned Hinduism and adopted Buddhism. Dr Ambedkar also refused to accept Christianity, Sikhism, and Islam in favour of Buddhism for two main reasons: Firstly, Buddhism is a religion of ethics, morality, and learning; caste is not relevant in this system. secondly, its roots are in the Indian soil. From his understanding of the Dhamma, religion's central precept is to foster an environment conducive to each person's spiritual development. This paper seeks to examine Dr Ambedkar's religious philosophy and demonstrate how religion has exacerbated human division, on the other hand,it also aims to show, how he established the idea that spiritual and religious values can help individuals and humanity as a whole to solve modern problems.

The Role of Ethical Consumption in Promoting Social Development: A Theoretical Perspective
Author: Dharamveer

Ethical consumption, which emphasizes socially and environmentally responsible choices by consumers, has gained significant traction as a means of influencing global production systems and promoting social development. In a world characterized by inequality, environmental degradation, and labour exploitation, ethical consumption provides a potential avenue for addressing these issues through consumer choices. This paper explores the theoretical foundations of ethical consumption and its role in promoting social development. It delves into key theoretical frameworks, such as behavioral economics, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and sustainable development, to analyse how consumer behavior can shape social progress. The paper argues that while ethical consumption holds promise for promoting fair labour practices, environmental sustainability, and economic equity, its true potential can only be realized in conjunction with systemic changes involving corporate accountability, regulatory interventions, and broader social movements. The paper concludes by discussing the limitations of ethical consumption as a sole driver of social development and suggests pathways for maximizing its impact.

PSYCHOSOCIAL DIMENSIONS OF HOME ENVIRONMENT AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN VARYING ECONOMIC CONTEXTS
Author: Jyoti Kumari

ABSTRACT
The present study investigates the psychosocial dimensions of the home environment, encompassing
emotional support, cognitive stimulation, parental involvement, and relational dynamics, and their
influence on academic achievement across diverse economic strata. Grounded in ecological systems
theory and the Family Investment Model, the analysis synthesizes empirical evidence from metaanalyses, longitudinal studies, and cross-sectional surveys to delineate how low socioeconomic status
(SES) households often exhibit constrained psychosocial resources, exacerbating achievement gaps,
while higher SES contexts amplify facilitative effects through enriched learning opportunities. Key
findings indicate that while universal psychosocial factors like parental responsiveness predict
outcomes (r ≈ 0.20–0.30), their potency varies by economic context, with mediation by home learning
environments partially explaining up to 40% of SES disparities. A comparative table of effect sizes
across SES levels is presented, alongside discussions of moderating variables such as cultural norms
and policy interventions. Implications underscore the urgency of targeted psychosocial enrichment
programs to mitigate inequities, fostering equitable academic trajectories in an increasingly stratified
society.
